Guitars.
Sonic memories.

2024

This series of assemblages begins with a certainty: history leaves marks, and at times those marks find form. After the death of the artist’s father and mother, the gesture of dismantling a guitar and reconstructing it as an artwork becomes an act of homage and elaboration.

The guitar, as an intimate object linked to sound and transmission, is here fragmented and reassembled as a body that preserves traces: the imprint of ancestors, the inherited seed that reappears transformed within one’s own psychic imagery. Although these assemblages produce no sound, they are permeated by the idea of resonance.

Each piece suggests a suspended echo, a vibration held within matter. Wood, strings, sound boxes, and structural remnants are arranged into compositions where memory functions as a silent tuning: a harmony built from absence.

The series enters into dialogue, across a different context and temporality, with early twentieth-century explorations that deconstructed the guitar as a way of thinking about space and fragmentation.

Here, that legacy shifts toward three-dimensional assemblage: not as a strict ready-made, but as a recomposition charged with affective meaning. The guitar ceases to be an instrument and becomes a soundless sonic body, a place where memory, matter, and personal history are organized into a new form of presence.
