The Age of the Pachyderms

2024

The Age of the Pachyderms (2024) brings together a group of works that inhabit an intermediate territory between sculpture and object, where rhinoceroses, elephants, and hippopotamuses emerge as forms of resistance.

Far from naturalistic representation, these presences embody the idea of a body that endures: thick skin, dense volume, matter that protects and persists. In this series, the pachyderm functions as a metaphor for psychic and material survival, of that which develops a resilient, hardened layer not out of rigidity, but in order to remain.

The works condense a reflection on the capacity to withstand the weight of time, experience, and injury, transforming mass and texture into a sensitive language of support and permanence.
